Goldendoodle weight chart by age

The honest weight chart for Goldendoodles, broken out by Mini, Medium, and Standard size. Useful for tracking growth, picking the right harness size, and figuring out whether your puppy is on track. Plus the trick breeders use to predict adult weight, and the times to call the vet if something looks off.

The three Goldendoodle size classes

Bred from a Miniature, Medium, or Standard Poodle parent. Adult expectations:

  • Mini Goldendoodle: 13 to 17 inches at shoulder, 15 to 35 lbs adult weight
  • Medium Goldendoodle: 17 to 20 inches at shoulder, 35 to 50 lbs adult weight (Mango is in this class at 45 lbs)
  • Standard Goldendoodle: 20 to 26 inches at shoulder, 50 to 90 lbs adult weight

Petite or Toy Goldendoodles (under 15 lbs) exist but the breeding genetics get tighter. Always check OFA paperwork on parents.

Mini Goldendoodle weight chart

  • 8 weeks: 4 to 7 lbs
  • 3 months: 8 to 13 lbs
  • 4 months: 10 to 17 lbs
  • 5 months: 12 to 20 lbs
  • 6 months: 14 to 24 lbs
  • 9 months: 15 to 28 lbs
  • 1 year: 15 to 32 lbs
  • Adult: 15 to 35 lbs

Medium Goldendoodle weight chart

  • 8 weeks: 8 to 13 lbs
  • 3 months: 15 to 22 lbs
  • 4 months: 20 to 28 lbs
  • 5 months: 25 to 33 lbs
  • 6 months: 28 to 38 lbs
  • 9 months: 32 to 45 lbs
  • 1 year: 35 to 50 lbs
  • Adult: 35 to 50 lbs

Mango hit 45 lbs at one year and stayed there as an adult. Right in the middle of this class.

Standard Goldendoodle weight chart

  • 8 weeks: 12 to 18 lbs
  • 3 months: 22 to 32 lbs
  • 4 months: 30 to 42 lbs
  • 5 months: 38 to 52 lbs
  • 6 months: 45 to 60 lbs
  • 9 months: 52 to 72 lbs
  • 1 year: 55 to 80 lbs
  • Adult: 50 to 90 lbs

How to predict adult weight from puppy weight

The most reliable formula: at 4 months, the puppy is roughly half the adult weight. So a 22 lb 4 month old will likely finish at 44 lbs.

Other useful checkpoints:

  • 16 weeks weight x 2 = adult weight estimate (most accurate for Mini and Medium)
  • 6 month weight x 1.5 = adult weight estimate (works for Standard)
  • Average of both parents' weights = adult weight estimate (most accurate, requires breeder data)

F1B Goldendoodles tend to lean toward the Poodle parent's weight. F1 Goldendoodles tend to land between the two parents. Multigen depends on the recent generations.

When growth typically stops

Mini Goldendoodles finish growing around 9 to 12 months. Medium Goldendoodles finish at 12 to 14 months. Standard Goldendoodles can grow until 18 to 24 months, especially in weight. Height tends to finish before weight.

Signs of healthy growth

  • Visible waist when looking down from above. An hourglass shape, not a sausage shape.
  • Ribs felt easily but not visible when running fingers along the side.
  • Steady weekly weight gain for puppies under 6 months. Plateaus around 9 months.
  • Even body proportions. Some doodles go through a "lanky teen" phase where the legs look too long. This usually self corrects.

When to worry about weight

Call the vet if:

  • Puppy loses weight at any age. Not normal.
  • No weight gain for two consecutive weeks in a puppy under 6 months.
  • Ribs visible from across the room.
  • Cannot feel ribs at all under fat layer.
  • Pot belly with thin spine in a puppy. Could indicate parasites or malabsorption.
  • Suddenly slow to gain weight while still eating normally.

Feeding by weight

Daily food intake roughly tracks adult weight. For an active dog:

  • 15 to 25 lbs: 0.75 to 1.25 cups kibble per day
  • 30 to 50 lbs: 1.5 to 2.5 cups
  • 50 to 75 lbs: 2.5 to 3.5 cups
  • 75 to 90 lbs: 3.5 to 4.5 cups

Always cross check with the bag's chart for the specific food's calorie density. See our full food guide for portion guidance per format.

Choosing harness and collar by weight

As a rough size guide:

  • Under 25 lbs: small harness, small or medium collar
  • 25 to 40 lbs: medium harness, medium collar
  • 40 to 60 lbs: medium or large harness, large collar
  • 60 to 90 lbs: large or extra large harness and collar

Always measure the chest and neck after a fresh groom for the most accurate size. See our harness guide and collar guide for brand picks at each size.

Quick FAQ

How much will my Goldendoodle weigh as an adult?Take the weight at 4 months, double it, and you have a good estimate. Or check both parents' actual weights and average them.

Why is my Goldendoodle smaller than the chart?Generation matters. F1B leans toward the Poodle side. If the Poodle parent was small, your dog will likely be smaller than the breed average.

How long do Goldendoodles keep growing?Mini stops around 9 to 12 months. Medium around 12 to 14 months. Standard until 18 to 24 months.

Is my Goldendoodle overweight? If you cannot feel ribs without pressing, yes. If the waist is gone when looking down from above, yes. Talk to your vet and adjust food.

How big is Mango? 45 lbs at the shoulder height of about 19 inches. Right in the middle of the Medium class. The full breakdown is on our about Mango page.
